From Primula vulgaris to Tetrapanax papyrifer ‘Rex’ this garden is composed of many colourful rooms and secret corners filled with an abundance of well known and rarer plants. It includes herbaceous borders, a wildflower meadow, a bold exotic area and contrasting woodland area. There is an organically managed poly tunnel and vegetable garden which supply the house throughout the year. Created from a bare site in 2004, Ravens’ Oak Garden is a hidden gem tucked away in unspoiled countryside and was originally designed and planted to attract and encourage wildlife and has been further developed. It now boasts many species found in or immediately around the garden, with 60+ species of birds seen including resident Choughs and Ravens.

ADMISSION: € 5. Children free

LOCATION: From R586 Drimoleague-Bantry road take a right turn at Willy Pas’s pub, Colomane. Take the 2nd turning right by a pole with two yellow rings. Then take the next turning left and follow this road for 2miles. Ravens’ Oak is signed on the right. From Bantry – through the main high street of the town past the library turn left continue on past the church and convent. Keep on this road for 3miles and turn left at the Francis O’Neil Monument and sign for Trawlebane. Continue for 1½ miles turn right at the post with two yellow rings. Ravens’ Oak is the first house on the left.

Refreshments. Plants for sale. Toilets. Sorry no dogs.

The Ewe Sculpture Garden

Often described as ‘Ireland’s Eden’ The Ewe is a unique combination of nature, art and narrative – a private home and Irelands’s only interactive sculpture garden. The whole family can enjoy mind challenging games, creative areas and story boards for a learning experience like no other in a one kilometre walk. Four separate gardens of around five acres are set on a mountainside, along a beautiful waterfall. Visitors enter Falling Water Garden, before going to to the Timeless Glen, a shady forest clearing, higher up the Environmental Forest, where all sculptures are made from re-cycled materials, and finally the Valley of Eden with spectacular views to the mountains and the sea.

Widely featured in the media. ‘ Ireland’s #1 garden’ Irish Times.

CHARITY DAY: Saturday 9th June.

ADMISSION: Adults € 6.50. Children € 5. Family of four (2 adults and 2 children) € 20. ‘Edible Art’ ice creams, cakes and drinks for sale. Also riverside picnics. Earth bead jewellery work- shops and art gallery.
LOCATION: From Glengarriff 3miles up the N71 road to Kenmare – well sign posted. Look out for the ‘Earth men’ sculptures trying to slow you down and a map reading sheep on top of a vintage car.

A large 2 acre garden in a subtropical oasis of peace and serenity. Enhanced by the woodland setting and surrounding mill stream, river and natural waterfalls – which can be quite spectacular! Our many tender and rare plants thrive in this mild, sheltered climate, and allows for a wide variety of planting. This provides continuous interest from March through to late October with it’s brilliant autumn colours. Travelling from Clonakilty to Bandon turn right at Ballinascarthy village and travel 1.5 miles to cross roads (cut stone-faced building).
